Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Prepare and releases purchase/ job orders for production materials, floor stock items and any other purchases/ planning to support business operations per customer requirements, quality requirements or engineering bill of materials.
2. Completing proper paperwork to purchase/ plan for materials or supplies needed in addition to acquiring appropriate level of signatures prior purchasing/ planning for the materials.
3. Data entry of purchase/ job orders in addition to maintenance and upkeep of MRP database for accurate representation of inventory.
4. Using sourced vendors for high volume items with the goal of maintaining cost saving goals for assigned commodities and materials.
5. Coordinate delivery and demands with the vendors in addition to monitoring and evaluating vendor performance.
6. Control or intervene commodity and material purchase price variances.
7. Maintenance and upkeep of purchasing/ scheduling files and materials.
8. Maintain engineering change order files and update vendors regarding changes to ensure vendor compliance with the quality management system.
9. Generate and evaluate reports related to assigned commodities and materials.
10. Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, vendors and other departments regarding problem resolution.
11. Communicate with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability or delivery schedule.
12. Prepares and reviews vendor proposals and negotiates vendor agreements within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
13. Participates with quality department and operations management in supplier/vendor visits to qualify the supplier/vendor as a new source and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and or delivery problems.
Key Skills and Competencies:
1. Must possess at least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment procuring/ planning materials.
2. Proficiency with the following computer software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook. Must quickly adapt to learning new software.
3. Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects simultaneously with the capacity to work independently, coupled with the ability to plan and perform work with minimal direction and supervision.
4. Prior experience with MRP software.
5. Excellent problem solving and resolution skills.
6. Excellent planning and organizational skills to include time and priority management.
7. Must be detail oriented.
8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
